Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Certain Technologies, Inc. ("we," "our," and "us") collects, uses, and shares personal information on jellypsych.com and its related pages (the "Website"). That includes our free online course, "AI Training for Psychologists" (the "Course").
Please read it together with our Terms of Use. This policy does not cover the Jelly Psych platform at app.jellypsych.com, which is a separate service governed by its own agreements with our customers.
The Short Version
- We collect what you give us, such as your name and email when you start the Course, and basic information about how you use the Website.
- We use it to run the Website and the Course, to answer you, and to keep the Website secure.
- We may email you about the Course and about Jelly Psych's products and services. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- The Website and the Course are not for client or patient information. Please never enter any.
- You can delete your course data at any time from the course menu.
Client and Patient Information
The Website and the Course never need information about your clients, patients, students, or anyone else you work with, and you should not enter it anywhere on the Website. That includes names, birthdates, schools, histories, test scores, and anything else that could identify a person. The Course's examples use made-up responses.
The Website and the Course are not covered by HIPAA, FERPA, or a Business Associate Agreement. Client work belongs in the Jelly Psych platform, which is covered by its own agreements with our customers.
If you entered client information on the Website by mistake, email us at hello@jellypsych.com and we will look for it and delete it.
Information We Collect
Information you give us
- Course account: your first name, last name, and email address, and your course progress (the screens and modules you have reached, and when).
- Course activities: your answers to the Course's questions and activities stay in your browser. We record only which screens you have reached. Course notes PDFs are made in your browser and include your name; we do not receive a copy.
- Forms: if you contact us or ask about pricing, the details you enter, such as your name, email address, phone number, role, organization, and message.
- Ask Jelly chat: the messages you send and the replies you receive.
- Free tools: the text or score you enter. We send text to our AI provider to produce the result. We do not store the text or score itself; we record which tool was used and when.
Information collected automatically
- Device and connection information: your IP address and your browser and device type. We record these when you start the Course, send a form or a chat message, or use a free tool. For free tool use, we also record an approximate location (city, region, and country) worked out from your IP address.
- Usage information: the pages you visit and how you use them, through Google Analytics, and a random visitor ID stored in your browser that links your chat and free tool use across visits. See Cookies and Similar Technologies below.
How We Use Information
- To run the Course: to save your progress, sign you in, email you sign-in codes, and put your name on your course notes and certificate.
- To send you emails about the Course and about Jelly Psych's products and services, which you can unsubscribe from at any time.
- To answer your questions and requests, including pricing inquiries.
- To run Ask Jelly and the free tools.
- To understand how the Website is used and to improve it.
- To keep the Website secure, for example by limiting how often requests can be made and by preventing abuse.
- To comply with the law and to protect our rights and the rights of others.
Emails we send
We use your course email address to send sign-in codes and, if needed, important notices about the Course or your course account.
We may also send you marketing emails about the Course and about Jelly Psych's products and services. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe by emailing us at hello@jellypsych.com. Our marketing emails may use standard technology that tells us whether you opened an email or clicked a link in it.
Legal bases (visitors in the EEA and UK)
Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on these legal bases: to provide the Course you signed up for (contract); to run, secure, and improve the Website and to answer you (our legitimate interests); and to comply with the law (legal obligation).
How We Share Information
We share personal information with service providers that help us run the Website, only as needed for them to do that work:
- Render, which hosts the Website and handles its traffic, and its network provider, Cloudflare.
- MongoDB, which hosts our database.
- Twilio SendGrid, which sends sign-in code emails. It receives your email address and the code.
- The email service we use to send marketing emails. It receives your name and email address.
- OpenAI, which produces Ask Jelly replies and free tool results. It receives the text you send.
- Google, which provides Google Analytics.
- ipapi.co, which works out an approximate location from your IP address when you use a free tool.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or us, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our business.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
How Long We Keep Information
- Course account and progress: until you delete them, or until we discontinue the Course.
- Course sign-in: a signed-in browser stays signed in for up to 1 year. Sign-in codes expire after 10 minutes.
- Form submissions, chat messages, and usage records: for as long as we need them for the purposes in this policy, and then we delete them.
After information is deleted, copies may remain in our service providers' backups for a limited time until they are overwritten.
Deleting Your Course Data
In the Course, open the course menu and choose "Delete my course data." This permanently deletes your name, email address, progress, signed-in sessions, and any sign-in code, and signs you out on that browser. Any other browser you used is signed out the next time it opens the Course. This cannot be undone, but you can start the Course again at any time with the same email address.
If you cannot sign in, or you want us to delete other information, email us at hello@jellypsych.com from the email address you used. We may need to confirm that the request comes from you.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect personal information. For example, the Website uses HTTPS. The course session cookie cannot be read by scripts on the page. We store only scrambled (hashed) versions of sign-in codes and session tokens. Sign-in codes expire after 10 minutes and allow five tries. We also limit how often requests can be made.
No website or online service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of your information.
Children
The Website is not directed to children under 13 years of age, and children under 13 must not use it. The Course is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us at hello@jellypsych.com and we will delete it.
Your Privacy Rights
You can see your course name, email address, and progress in the Course, and delete them at any time.
Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act may give you the right to know what personal information we have about you, to get a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing (we do not sell or share it). You also have the right not to be treated differently for using these rights.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may also have the right to object to or restrict some uses of your information, to move it to another service, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We are based in the United States, and we and our service providers process information there.
To make a request, email us at hello@jellypsych.com. We will need to confirm your identity, usually by confirming that you control the email address in question. Where the law allows, you may use an authorized agent. We will respond within the time the law requires.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date. If we make a material change to how we use course account information, we will tell learners by email or on the Website before the change takes effect.
